Spent most of the day trying to clean up around the house. It's not fun with aching muscles. But at least like this, I don't have to worry about not being able to sleep at night. I'm about to retire soon.

Just wanted to document what's been going on about my Etsy Showcase spot. For US$7, it wasn't a bad investment at all. Since yesterday, I've gotten 15 new hearts on my shop, lots of views on the featured items, 3 necklaces sold and 1 enquiry. The same amount of activity would normally take place in about 1-2 weeks, if I'm lucky. Unfortunately, I'll be away when the next round of Showcase spots go on sale. I have to look for other outlets in the meantime.

They say you have to keep promoting your shop so that sales will pick up, and that's the painful truth. You can have the most beautiful things for sale but no one buys because no one knows you exist. The world is wider beyond our imagination; I keep telling myself there must be a buyer out there for each lovingly crafted piece.

Starting out takes a lot of time and there's always a tradeoff between creating and promoting. Life in the corporate world is starting to come back to me in flashes: "we need account managers so they can get projects in" vs. "we need production staff to actually do the work".

Right, I'm off to try and get closer to the end of The Hippopotamus (which is quite the bucket of laughs). And I really should start packing for the trip soon...
