Sorry, just practising with the macro lens here (seeing as I haven't taken much non-work photos lately). And it's obviously not as good as those professional ones but hey... I have a noob camera, zero setup and shaky hands when hungry. Please ignore the specks of dust for these rings are not very frequently used or cleaned - but can you tell which is the natural rock here? The other 2 are man-made :) The different cuts and sizes might influence your guess though.
Shot in late morning daylight. I think diamonds tend to sparkle best under artificial lighting. They just look terribly cold here.

My guess is the middle one. Either that of the marquise. Probably totally wrong on both accounts!!
Did you get a new camera? - @ 24 February 2009 at 11:28 beakee said...

OK, so lots of you have looked at other people's guess without leaving your own.
wg is correct, it's the round one that's a natural diamond. Must've cheated by looking at the well-worn band :P
Ginger, no it's the same camera, same lens :) Even though there are now point-and-shoots with more megapixels, I still can't afford to upgrade my dSLR :\ - @ 25 February 2009 at 02:35 msbelle said...
- Wow. Shows you how well I can tell squat about diamonds from a picture! I'd love to see it in person though. Love the rainbows they make!

I was guessing the round 1 too.
The other 2 looks fake. Especially the one on the left. :) - @ 26 February 2009 at 16:42 beakee said...
- LOL. Eh... they are not fake, just created in a lab, not the earth, with the exact same material, molecular structure and properties - carbon :P
