ZzzzzzzzSingaporeans are tough... the vast majority of customers so far has been great, but I noticed the ones most likely to have "issues" would be local. Perhaps I should just keep this to myself for now...

I don't quite know how to say this but so far this year, I've been questioning what I'm doing more and more. Not in the sense of why I am on earth, but why I am still pursuing an interest that I find increasingly hard to sustain. It is, of course, nice to have one's peers appreciate one's work (I think/hope they do anyway), after all words don't cost anything, but it's different from someone actually liking your thing enough to buy it, use it and share with their friends.

Maybe I have never had to want for anything bad enough to be able to dig deep and push myself to get it. Maybe it's my complacency and procrastination. Think it's time to find out how thick my skin can be... but I don't have the time right now.

I feel so sleepy. And I feel like closing my shop early since I won't be around till mid June. Not that I expect anything exciting to be happening during my absence. When I'm back, though, I'm gonna look through my older jewellery that hasn't sold and decide which ones to dismantle.

Things I want to do in no particular order:
redesign my blog // take lotsa photos // read // eat more pizza // get on with my Italian lessons...

Sorry for rambling.

Hi, Jasmine. I perfectly understand how you feel, cos I am facing the same problems n doing worse than you. I told myself that I will allow myself to spend up to S$2000 on materials. Till now, I have already spent S$1000+, not counting the fees for flickr, electricity, broadband connection, and yes, my dell computer n laser printer especially bought with craft business in mind. I have just started my blog as it costs to list at etsy n i haven't seen much results except 2 donuts sold at the beginning. While that handful of friends may praise my work, they may only want it if free or sold at a very low price. I almost consign them but the shop owner find USD8.90 for felt donut (3 hours'work) too costly n hard to sell. Suggest that I made more commercialised stuffs like keychains n mobile accessories (the typical things that the locals pay for0. I actually made some really simple cos I spend S$300 plus on a lot of the charms n afraid that i can't sell them at all. I plan to sell them at S$2.90 or S$3.90 at yahoo auction perhaps but is is down. ha ha...you know you can't stand that site n i can understand your disdain perfectly. Think I will still try, with a new account n probably cheaper stuffs. There is a new site, 99auction.com. Free but i am still thinking. Haven't got time yet to do much crafting n learning very very slowly how to set up my blog. I tried 2 hours in vain last night to add ticket counter so decided to pop by your blog to 'steal' ideas. ha ha...I am wondering how to go about selling from blog too, the way Adeline (mamalady) did from her blog. So far, only a few visited it, upon my invitation. to be honest, I still don't actually know how blogs work. That little I know is through questioning my friend on the phone. ha ha... I was trying to get away from etsy if the blog is good since it is so hard to make sales at etsy with the multiples of crafters there. I am real lousy with IT so my plan in crafting n selling has been so slow thgh the passion n dream has been there even before i resigned from my full-time job in Aug 2006. Since then, I used yahoo auction as sort of a training ground since it is fairly simple n free (thgh I still don't know how to customise it:( ) The thing i have learnt there the most is probably buyer's mentality (I do interview them when we meet up). Some became online friends like Joanne (we chat n talk rots now n then at flickr, I 'lured' her thgh initially, she said she was 'busy' at facebook. 99.9% of my friends are there but somehow i just preferred flickr for its photo-sharing n clear-cut layout.

hmmm, sorrry for my rambling too, at your blog....ha ha....bye, sleep tight....
