Is it just me, or are Etsy frontpages getting repetitive?
If it's not whites, creams or greys, aqua+red, pink+brown, rainbows, trains, felted goods or dots.... then it's the same popular sellers appearing again and again, often with the same items. Of course, it's not their fault they probably have a shop full of attractive photos. No... it's the treasury makers... and the admins who're too lazy to curate their own FPs and depend on said treasury makers.
Wake up!!!
Oh and another thing? 3 times out of 5, when I look at Etsy's front page these days, half of the bit that shows recently listed items will be... wait for it... commercial supplies.
Yes, I sell a tiny quantity of such supplies as well, but please man, it's destash. New, unused things I never got a chance to play with but could be good for someone else. Not the same as people who intentionally buy to resell, clogging up the "place to buy and sell all things handmade™".
Sigh.

I am totally right there with you. I have seen the same seller listed three times this week on the mainpage. And I'm all for pimping out quality work, but on the other hand, it does start to smell of favoritism (or laziness) when it's done so consistently.

I love colour themed treasuries / FPs so I don't mind it so much. But yes, I find that a certain seller is getting a whole lot of exposure in all the different permutations of her earrings. Depending on which treasury is being feature d that is.
I agree that the same curators seem to always be making the cut. - @ 25 July 2008 at 16:51 beakee said...

Yes, exactly.... while the Chosen Ones do look nice, the repetition is boring me....
